Gazing Moon Currency and Economy Guide
A complete breakdown of the currencies in Gazing Moon. Learn the difference between Fons, premium currency, and gacha tickets.
Navigating the economy of a new gacha game can be confusing. Gazing Moon (望月) features a multi-tiered currency system similar to other major titles in the genre, but with its own unique in-universe naming conventions.
Here is a complete guide to the currencies you will encounter in Tianyue City.
1. Fons (The Standard Currency)
Fons is the everyday, standard currency used by the citizens of Tianyue City. Think of it as the equivalent of “Mora” in Genshin Impact or “Credits” in Honkai: Star Rail.
- How to get it: You earn Fons by doing almost everything in the game: completing story quests, defeating enemies, opening chests, and running specific resource domains.
- What it’s used for: Fons is the backbone of your progression. You need it to level up characters, upgrade weapons, enhance Moon Spirits, and purchase basic items from NPC vendors around the city.
2. The Premium Currencies (Gacha Currency)
While the exact names for the premium currencies have varied slightly in different translation passes during the beta, the structure is standard:
The “Freemium” Currency (Equivalent to Primogems/Stellar Jade)
This is the highly valuable currency used to purchase gacha pulls.
- How to get it: Earned by completing daily commissions, participating in limited-time events, discovering new areas, opening high-tier chests, and completing major story milestones.
- What it’s used for: Primarily used to buy “Warp Tickets” (the items needed to pull on the gacha banners). It can also be used to refresh your daily stamina/energy, though F2P players are highly advised against doing this.
The “Paid” Currency (Equivalent to Genesis Crystals/Oneiric Shards)
This currency can only be obtained by spending real-world money.
- How to get it: Purchasing it directly from the in-game cash shop.
- What it’s used for: It can be converted at a 1:1 ratio into the “Freemium” currency mentioned above. It is also typically used to purchase special cosmetic items, premium resource bundles, or the premium tier of the Battle Pass.
3. Gacha Tickets (Warp Tickets)
To actually pull characters and weapons from the gacha system, you need tickets. There are two distinct types:
- Standard Tickets: Used on the permanent, standard banner. You get these frequently from Pre-Registration Rewards, character ascension milestones, and the free tier of the Battle Pass.
- Limited/Special Tickets: Used on the time-limited character and weapon banners (e.g., to pull for a featured character like Zhao). These are much rarer and are what you should spend your “Freemium” currency on.
4. Exploration and Faction Tokens
As you explore different districts of Tianyue City and the surrounding areas, you will collect unique regional tokens.
- These tokens can be turned in to specific faction vendors or automated kiosks for exclusive rewards, including upgrade materials, cosmetic glider wings, and occasionally, Standard Gacha Tickets.
