How to Capture Moon Spirits in Gazing Moon (Complete Guide)
Master the art of capturing Moon Spirits in Gazing Moon. Learn about the Moon Eye Scan, capture mechanics, success rates, and the best farming routes.
The Moon Spirit (月灵) system is the beating heart of Gazing Moon (望月). These creatures act as your pets, mounts, combat companions, and puzzle-solving tools. But before you can utilize their incredible abilities, you must first capture them in the wild.
Unlike traditional gacha games where you “pull” for pets, Gazing Moon allows you to seamlessly capture them directly in the open world of Tianyue City and its surrounding environments. This guide covers the complete step-by-step process of capturing Moon Spirits.
Step 1: Finding Moon Spirits
Moon Spirits roam freely across the map, but they aren’t always easy to spot. Some blend into the environment, while others only appear under specific conditions.
The Moon Eye Scan (月之眼)
Your most important tool for finding Moon Spirits is the Moon Eye Scan. This is a built-in character ability that pulses an electromagnetic wave across your immediate surroundings.
- How to use: Press the dedicated Scan button (default ‘V’ on PC).
- What it does: It highlights interactive objects, hidden pathways, and most importantly, the exact location and rarity of nearby Moon Spirits.
Habitat and Weather
Different Moon Spirits prefer different environments. For example, the Yishuilong (一水龙) is commonly found near water sources in the Nangang District, while the Pili Corgi (霹雳柯基) might be found roaming the neon-lit streets of the CBD. Pay attention to the weather; some rare spirits only spawn during rain or the “Crimson Moon” atmospheric event.
Step 2: The Capture Process
Once you’ve located a Moon Spirit, you can’t just walk up and grab it. You must engage it in a capture sequence.
1. Weaken the Target
Just like in classic monster-catching games, you must lower the Moon Spirit’s HP to increase your capture success rate. Engage the spirit in combat using your characters.
- Warning: Be careful not to deplete its HP to zero! If you kill the Moon Spirit, it will drop materials instead of being captured.
2. Apply Chaos Collapse (Stun)
To maximize your capture chances, you should trigger the Chaos Collapse state. By hitting the Moon Spirit with elemental weaknesses or heavy poise damage, you can break its posture gauge. When the gauge breaks, the spirit enters a stunned state. This is the optimal time to throw your capture device.
3. Throw the Capture Device (Moon Prism)
When the spirit is weakened and preferably stunned, aim and throw your Moon Prism (the in-game capture device).
- The game will display a percentage indicating your capture success rate.
- If successful, the Moon Prism will pull the spirit inside, and it will be added to your inventory.
- If it fails, the spirit may break free, recover some HP, or even flee the battle entirely.
Step 3: Upgrading Your Capture Gear
In the early game, you will easily capture common Moon Spirits. However, as you encounter higher-rarity spirits (like Elite or Boss variants), your basic Moon Prisms will have a very low success rate.
Crafting Better Prisms
You must gather materials in the open world and visit the crafting benches in Tianyue City to upgrade your capture devices.
- Basic Prism: Good for common spirits.
- Advanced Prism: Required for Elite spirits.
- Master Prism: Essential for Boss-level spirits and rare spawns.
Post-Capture: The Bond System
Capturing the Moon Spirit is only the beginning. Once caught, you must build a relationship with it through the Bond System.
- Feeding: Feed them their preferred snacks to increase Bond EXP.
- Petting/Interaction: Spend time interacting with them in your safehouse.
- Combat Usage: Simply using them in battle gradually increases their loyalty.
As the Bond level increases, the Moon Spirit will unlock new combat skills, better traversal abilities (like faster gliding or higher jumping), and eventually, the ability to Evolve into a more powerful form.
